Google Andriod OS for Google Mobile Phones

Android is an operating system for mobile devices such as cellular phones, tablet computers and netbooks. Android was developed by Google and is based upon the Linux Kernel and GNU software. It was initially developed by Android Inc.(a firm later purchased by Google) and lately, by the Open Handset Alliance. Google Android is modern and powerful – different from, but in the same class with, the IPhone

OS. It has an app store, and excellent wireless synchronization with Google’s calendar and contacts.

Like Windows Mobile, it’s a horizontal product, which can be used on numerous handsets and even tablets or netbooks, some of which are rumored to be in the works. It will be available on multiple carriers, and can work with or without a physical keyword. While Google has largely driven Android development, it has been left to manufacturers to choose whether to upgrade mobile phones. This has already led to fragmentation of the market, party due to the pace of new releases and partly because of the lack of desire to support old mobile phones when new models need to be sold.

For manufactures, Android biggest attraction is its being free and competitive to IOS. However, Google needs to walk a fine line between developing applications which have the ability to be used by the largest potential audience possible, while at the same time they need to ensure Android is differentiated in the market with Unique applications.
